Key Responsibilities

  • Provide scientific/medical education to healthcare professionals

A Typical Day

MSLs typically:
- Meet with 2-3 KOLs or HCPs per day
- Travel within their territory (typically regional)

Travel Requirements

  • Most MSL roles require 50-75% travel
  • Territory size varies by therapeutic area
  • Some roles are more regional, others national
  • Remote work for non-travel days

Compensation Range

  • Entry-level MSL: $180,000 - $220,000
  • Senior MSL: $200,000 - $260,000
  • Regional Medical Director: $250,000 - $350,000

Plus bonus (typically 15-25% of base) and company car or car allowance.
